Chocolate Chip Cookie Brownie Bar Mix–Aldi Review
So, it’s a little late in the day and you got a sweet tooth. You don’t want to leave the house, but you know you NEED chocolate. In comes this chocolate chip cookie brownie bar mix!
I picked this up from Aldi earlier in the season. I left it in the pantry for an emergency and I actually almost forgot about it. This is super easy to make and was so good! I just followed the directions on the box to prepare both batters. I did add pecans to both batters because we love both our cookies and our brownies with pecans.
I also used this brownie pan I picked up from a Pampered Chef party a friend hosted a few months ago. I had not gotten a chance to use it yet because I do try to limit the amount of sweets I keep in the house. But, this mix was the perfect opportunity to use this pan! If you love the corners of brownies, you need this pan! Now, there will be no fights in our house over who at the last corner!
I added the brownie batter to the pan first (that I sprayed really well with non-stick spray). Then, I topped them with one dollop of the cookie dough. Do not worry if the batter and dough does not reach all the edges of the pan; it will spread a bit and rise during the baking process. The box says to bake these for 40-45 minutes at 350 degrees. I knew that would be too long. I set the timer for 30 minutes, but actually took them out at the 27 minute mark.
I removed them from the pan, and it was surprisingly easy! They came out without much coaxing. I let them cool on a rack for a few minutes before serving. As I said, I made these on a whim. We did not have any ice cream in the freezer. But, I KNOW these would be excellent with ice cream. If I had planned for this, I also would have added caramel sauce to the top or added caramel chips to the batter so these could have been more like turtle brownies/cookies.
There are so many ideas I have for this mix! I need to go grab a few more of these for emergency purposes!
