Spicy Shrimp Pasta–An All Aldi Recipe

Spicy Shrimp Pasta–An All Aldi Recipe

If you know me, you know I LOVE spicy foods. If there is a spicy version of anything, I will try it. A few weeks ago, Aldi came out with a polano chile simmer sauce that I knew I wanted to try. I knew this would be perfect for pasta night at our house. And, this week’s pasta night included shrimp which I knew would pair well with this spicy simmer sauce.

First, I put the water on for the pasta. I decided to go with a ribbon pasta I found on a recent trip to, you guessed it, Aldi. But, you can really use whatever pasta you and your family prefer.

Next, I prepared the shrimp. The Black Tiger shrimp that are a regular item in Aldi’s freezer section are awesome! They are huge and the flavor is always on point. The come deveined so all you have to do is peel them and cook them. After cleaning and deveining them, I drained between paper towels then I seasoned them with a little sea salt, fresh cracked black pepper and creole seasoning.

I put a couple tablespoons of butter in my favorite fry pan and once the butter was melted, I added about 1.5 tablespoons Italian herb paste (a little pesto would work too) and cooked until it was fragrant. Then, I added the shrimp to the pan…but, not too much because you don’t want to overcrowd the pan. You can do this in batches if you need to.

I removed the shrimp from the pan and added the simmer sauce directly to the pan. This sauce cannot always be found at Aldi because it is a limited supply item. If you cannot find this sauce, you can easily make this with your favorite jarred Alfredo sauce (or make your own) and some frozen roasted green chile. I did add a little Parmesan and mozzarella to the sauce because extra cheese is always a good idea.

I just cooked the sauce until warm and then added the cooked pasta to the sauce and tossed to coat the pasta. To plate, I added the sauced pasta to the plate, then topped it with that delicious shrimp and a little more parmesan.

And, that was it! Really simple and super delicious which is the way I like my weeknight meals!

You can view a short video of how I made this recipe here.
